Managing Partner
Tom is the Managing Partner of CEM Benchmarking Inc. His commitment and his
down-to-earth, practical and realistic approach to providing accurate benchmarking information
for our clients is the driving culture of the firm. Under Tom's leadership, CEM's client
base has increased ten-fold and successful new services have been introduced.
Tom's articles have also featured in leading journals and magazines. His article on
organization design and performance was published in the Financial Analyst Journal.
Also his articles on the characteristics of top performing pension systems have features
in Canadian Investment Review. He is also a frequent speaker at various industry conferences.
Partner
Mike is a Partner at CEM with a primary focus on business development and client service
for North America, Australia, and Europe. Prior to Joining CEM in 1997, Mike had twelve
years of extensive marketing experience in pension and life insurance industry. Over the
years, Mike has led the firm's major client growth and market expansion initiatives.
Mike started his career in education as a basketball coach and lecturer at Laurentian
University and has an undergraduate degree in Physical and Health Education from Laurentian.
He is also a holder of an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and is a frequent speaker
at various industry conferences.
Director
Terrie has a broad background in the investment industry including investment management, asset consulting and institutional and retail investment product development.
She is an integral part of CEM's leadership team, heading the Investment Benchmarking Group, as well as CEM's research and marketing.
With her background in different investment businesses and as a CFA charter holder, Terrie is well positioned to develop new products for CEM aimed at the investment industry.
Director
Jan is a Director at CEM and leads our Pension Administration Benchmarking Service. This service caters to the needs of public sector, industry and corporate pension plans in North America, Europe and Australia. It provides insights into pension administration costs, service levels, transaction volumes and industry best practices. Under Jan’s leadership CEM currently benchmarks pension administration for over 75 pension plans with total membership in excess of 29.5 million members.
Prior to joining CEM, Jan worked in the private banking division of the Harris Bank in Chicago for more than 10 years. She received her BA from Augustana College and her MBA from DePaul University, Chicago.
Director
Bruce is a Director at CEM with client relationship responsibility for several clients in each of
CEM's services.
Bruce joined CEM in 2002, prior to which he had a 24-year career in financial analysis,
product management and business management. He started out in financial roles at a large
industrial conglomerate and a major Canadian bank. For the 9 years prior to joining CEM,
Bruce had senior product management roles at Bank of Montreal. At the time of his departure
from the bank, he was responsible for the credit insurance
line of business ($50 billion of insured assets).
Bruce holds an MBA from Queen's University.
Director
Alan is a Director at CEM with responsibilities for Business Development in North America, New Zealand and Australia.
Alan joined CEM in 2006, bringing with him 20 years of experience in the pension and institutional funds management business. He has extensive experience providing measurement, analysis, and benchmarking of investments and management decisions. Alan has worked for two of the world's largest custodian banks as well as specialist firms in product management, client relationship management, and business development roles.
Alan holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Masters of Finance and Banking.
Director
John is a Director at CEM with responsibility for developing our business in the UK and Ireland.
John has worked in the pensions industry for 23 years. Before joining CEM he worked for one of the world's leading professional services firms as a consultant specializing in pension scheme governance. He has advised pension schemes and service providers in various countries on global best practice in trusteeship, administration and compliance. In particular, John has extensive experience in benchmarking large UK pension schemes - including administration and management functions and the nature and quantum of pension provision.
