Founded in 1992, CEM began when co-founders Keith Ambachtsheer and John McLaughlin asked a group of Canadian and U.S. pension funds what they paid for internal and external investment management and administration services. No similar comparative data was available at the time. Approximately 60 plans responded and a database was created. Since then, Keith and John have moved on to focus on growing their own consulting businesses and CEM is operating under the day-to-day leadership of Tom Scheibelhut, Managing Partner and Mike Heale, Partner.

Today, CEM's client base has grown to over 500 clients, who annually participate in our benchmarking analysis. CEM now benchmarks the following businesses: Pension Investments and Pension Administration. These successful services are based on similar methodologies: our specialty is understanding our clients' businesses, obtaining standardized information from their peers, and comparing their results to their peers in key areas.
